NNO Celebration 2009

Celebrating National Night Out on Beverly Hills Drive
August 4, 2009

Two neighborhoods partnered together this year for a wonderful traditional neighborhood Block Party as part of the continuing effort to build a close knit community, partnering with our Police Department, and to continue efforts to drive out unwanted criminal elements.

Our 2009 event was held on Beverly Hills Drive. Neighbors from the Beverly Woods and Whispering Hills area filled the street, laughing, eating, visiting with old friends, and making lots of new ones in the spirit of National Night Out.

Special guests joined us from the Dekalb County Police and Public Safety Departments, arriving early and staying late to meet neighbors that came out to support this event.

And the kids – so many kids this year. It was wonderful to watch them laughing, running around, playing with the squirt guns, decorating the speed bumps with sidewalk chalk, enjoying sparklers after dark, and just being kids while their parents and so many friendly neighbors looked on.

There was lots of food, drink, music, plants to share, and school supplies for students. A passing shower helped cool things down, but didn’t dampen the evening fun.
