Recycling in Chamblee and DeKalb County

DeKalb County currently has a voluntary comprehensive curbside recycling program. It’s so convenient! You can mix all your paper and cardboard into into one big bin and all your plastics, glass, aluminum and tin into one big bag. They pick it up every Wednesday.

City of Chamble drop off

The City of Chamblee provides free compost and recycling services to all area residents at their Public Works Facility on 3210 Cumberland Drive. Cumberland Drive is the first street west of Buford Hwy across from the new IRS building on Chamblee Tucker Rd.

You may drop off recycled item listed below, and pick up free compost at their facility from 8:00am to noon, every third Saturday of the month.

They accept: cans (aluminum and tin), newspaper, cereal boxes, glass, all plastic containers, glass, cereal boxes, magazines, used batteries, motor oil, anti-freeze in steal containers, and scrap metal (call ahead if you have specific questions).

NEW!!! In 2008 the Chamblee Public Works Department added a new phase to their recycling program. With this new phase the following items may also be recycled: ALL computer components, batteries of all types, small appliances, cd/dvd players, cell phones, pagers, lawn equipment and power tools. Please make sure all of the information stored on your hard drive has been completely erased before it is brought to us. Chamblee will not be responsible for any confidential information left in your computer.

Drop off for area residences is still 8:00am – noon, each third Saturday of the month. For a complete list, please contact the Public Works Department at 770-986-5019.

  • The Doraville Recycling Center is located at Honeysuckle Park. At the site you will find large containers for newspapers, glass, aluminum cans, and plastic. To get there: take Buford Highway north to McElroy Road. Turn right and proceed to Pleasant Valley Drive. Turn left and proceed to the recycling center.
