About The Dresden East Civic Association

What is DECA?

The Dresden East Civic Association (DECA) is a nonprofit civic association created to preserve and enhance our neighborhoods. We are guided in our work by overall community interests dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of life for residents in the DECA neighborhoods and surrounding areas. DECA membership dues help fund various community improvement and social projects including:

  • Our annual picnic and other social activities.
  • Neighborhood Watch & National Night Out against crime.
  • Maintaining the I-85/Shallowford Road interchange gardens.
  • Donating to the Cross Keys Foundation and supporting local schools.

Where is DECA?

DECA is comprised of several communities in Northeast DeKalb County, Georgia. We live in the southern portion of the City of Chamblee. The boundaries of our area are essentially I-85 to the south and east, Clairmont Rd. and Buford Hwy to the west, and Chamblee-Tucker Rd to the north. Here is a map of the DECA boundaries which should give you a better idea of where we are located.

Who is DECA?

Most of our members live in one of several neighborhoods: Appling Heights, Dresden Square, Frontier Woods, LaVenture Forest, Marlin Acres, Tanglewood Circle, Whispering Hills, and Wakefield Forest. We also have members that live outside the DECA boundaries along with business owners in the area that regularly attend DECA functions. DECA is served by four executive committee members and community reps for each of our member neighborhoods.
